*POLICE PRESS RELEASE**OFFICIAL REBUTTAL TO SAHARA REPORTERS' MALICIOUS REPORT*


The Plateau State Command of the Nigeria Police Force strongly condemns the false and damaging allegations published by Sahara Reporters. 

The claim that newly promoted Inspectors were asked to pay ₦10,000 for decoration and that unqualified officers names were smuggled in the promotion list is completely untrue.

The Command never demanded nor accepts payments for promotions or decorations of its deserving promotees. There was no time the Command asked any promotee to make any contribution. 
 
All apromoted officers were selected based on merit and diligence, the promoted officers passed through a rigorous and transparent Selection Board Process and they all met the promotion requirements before being  promoted Assistant Superintendents of  Police (ASP ll ).

The Plateau State Commissioner of Police, in his maiden meeting with his management team, Area Commanders, sectional head, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) and other Heads of Department (HODs), warned strictly against corrupt practices and vowed to deal with such conducts in the Command. 

The allegations are not true and do not reflect the true nature of the Plateau State Police Command. 
The Command prioritizes all matters of the welfare and growth of it officers and men, in line with the ethos and mandate of the Inspector General of Police. 
 
This report is an attempt to undermine the Nigeria Police Force's reputation and incite discord among Officers of the Command. We urge the public to disregard it and assure of our commitment to transparency and accountability.

The Command warns against spreading false information and demands an apology and retraction from Sahara Reporters.
