Just In: Bauchi Governor Bala Mohammed Poised To Dump PDP For ADC


Bauchi, Nigeria 
Governor Bala Mohammed is putting the finishing touches on a switch from the Peoples Democratic Party to the African Democratic Congress, according to multiple Government House sources.

The move follows weeks of back-channel talks between the governor, ADC chiefs and North-East power brokers. Should it happen, it would rip a major figure out of the PDP hierarchy and rob the party of one of its loudest voices in the Governors’ Forum.

An official announcement is expected within days. ADC headquarters has already hailed the impending defection as a “turning point for Nigerian democracy.”

Party watchers are now waiting to see who will be the next governor—or federal lawmaker—to follow suit in what is being dubbed “the great realignment.”
