Plateau holds Solemn 2026 Armed forces Celebration and Remembrance Day.

It was a day of sober reflections on Thursday 15 January 2026 at the cenotaph of the Unknown Soldier at the Joseph Dechi Gomwalk Secretariat Jos Nigeria as Plateau State joined in the celebration of the Armed Forces of Nigeria for their gallantry, sacrifice and unwavering devotion to the nation.
Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang was represented by the Deputy Governor Hon (Mrs) Josephine Piyo who performed the ceremonial wreath laying ceremony at the tomb of the unknown soldier while also inspecting the parade.
Also present at the ceremony were the General Officer Commanding the 3 amoured division Maxwell Khobe Cantonment Major General Eyitayo Oyinlola, the Plateau State Commissioner of Police Emmanuel Adesina other heads of military and paramilitary formations, top government functionaries also graced the occasion.
At the event was the symbolic release of pigeons by the representative of the governor to signify peace and the 21 gun Salute and a moment of silence for the fallen heroes who have paid the supreme price in defending the territorial integrity of Nigeria.
The Armed forces celebration and emembrance day is an annual military tradition held in Nigeria on January 15 every year to recognize the sacrifices of the country’s fallen men in uniform.
