CITY BOY MOVEMENT LAUNCHED IN PLATEAU AS STATE APC PARTY CHAIRMAN RUFUS BATURE INAUGURATES EXCO AND URGES THEM TO PRACTICE POLITICS OF UNITY AND DIALOGUE.
The City Boy Movement, a Prominent ally of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has kicked off a renewed grassroots mobilization effort in Plateau State with the formal inauguration of its state local government coordinators across the 17 local councils and 207 wards. The high profile event, held on December 4, 2025, at the prestigious Crest Hotel in Jos, drew in key political stakeholders, including the Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, party stalwarts, and senior officials of the APC.
In his keynote address, Hon. David Daser, State Director of the City Boy Movement, declared that the inauguration marked the beginning of a broader strategy to strengthen the party’s structure at the grassroots level. He revealed that the movement would be hosting a massive empowerment event, tagged “The Banga,” in January 2026, which would feature top national figures, including National Coordinator Hon. Francis Saga.
Daser took the opportunity to extol the virtues of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, highlighting several key achievements, including the redirection of billions of naira through subsidy removal, the unification of exchange rates for transparency, and the empowerment of millions through the Renewed Hope Cash Transfer program. He also cited the relaunch of national rail and road projects, the opening up of the power sector for state participation, and the boosting of agriculture through the National Growth Scheme as evidence of the administration’s commitment to progress.
The State Director emphasized that the City Boy Movement is not a parallel structure to the APC but rather a grassroots engine designed to strengthen the party’s presence at the polling unit, ward, and local government levels. He charged the newly appointed coordinators to mobilize intelligently and peacefully, educate communities on government policies, and promote unity within the party.
On his part the State coordinator of the City Boy Movement Hon. Peter Zaki urged every inaugurated official to hit the ground running and also to take the message to all the electoral wards across the state noting that the essence of the movement is to sway prospective voters with the mantra of "Politics without bitterness" which is was the theme of the occasion.
In his words;
"President Bola Ahmed TInubu is known for playing politics without bitterness as he has always embraced even those who have fought him and bringing them closer based on a shared vision of moving Nigeria foward which has always been his cardinal motivation"
He asserted that the movement was formed to motivate voters to key into the "Renewed Hope" Agenda of the TInubu presidency and assured stakeholders that when the formal launching takes place Mr Seyi TInubu who is the grand patron will be on ground to further elucidate the benefits of a second tenure for the TInubu presidency and what the youths are assured of benefiting irrespective of tribal, ethnic, religious or party affiliations.
In his remarks, the APC State Chairman, Hon Rufus Bature who officially inaugurated the coordinators, urged them to uphold party discipline and avoid personal conflicts. He warned that anyone planning to sabotage the party from within would face consequences, using the phrase “Natasha” to drive home his point.
The Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Na’anlong Daniel, delivered a goodwill message, applauding the movement’s vision and emphasizing the importance of leadership and responsibility. He noted that the APC must embrace tolerance, unity, and accommodation, and that politics without bitterness was essential for the party’s success.
The event also featured special recognition of contributors, including Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, the national leadership of the City Boy Movement, and other prominent individuals. In his closing remarks, Daser pledged that the movement would work tirelessly to build a stronger Plateau and the nation, saying, “Together, we will build a stronger Plateau. Together we will deepen Renewed Hope. And together, we will make Nigeria greater.”
The movement plans to mobilize communities and promote unity within the party and
the APC state chairman emphasized the importance of party discipline and warned against factionalism.
The movement’s efforts are expected to contribute to the APC’s renewed push for grassroots mobilization and support in Plateau State.
