*PRESS STATEMENT BY THE PLATEAU STATE APC ELDERS ADVISORY COUNCIL*

The attention of the Plateau StateAPC Elders Advisory Council has been drawn to the conventional and increasingly disruptive manoeuvres by Governor Caleb Mutfwang,
aimed at securing entry into our great Party, the All Progressives Congress
(APC), through channels that are neither recognised nor acceptable to our established processes.

As elders of the Party, we wish to state unequivocally that the APC in Plateau State has, over the past several months, undergone its own internal challenges, reconciled contending interests, and emerged stronger, more united, and more focused.

This renewed cohesion is evident in the unprecedented wave of defections of respected political actors from various political platforms into the APC especially from the PDP, most of whom left as a result of the pariah status of Gov Caleb Mutfwang. These individuals followed due processes and were accorded a dignified and well organised reception at the Polo Field recently; an event that symbolised the new era of unity in our party.
Regrettably, this unity is now being shaken by the Governor’s unorthodox and hostile attempts to join the party.

We have also observed, with deep concern, the emergence of sponsored groups, unknown to the APC, issuing press statements and launching unwarranted attacks on respected leaders of the
party in the State and at the National level, all in a bid to create the false impression of support for the Governor’s attempted entry. Nothing is further away than the truth as we know for a fact that the Governor is being rejected by his PDP and the overwhelming majority of our supporters do not welcome his intended defection to our great Party.

We fnd it troubling that anyone seeking to join a party would resort
to hiring political jobbers tomalign, ridicule, and denigrate thevery leaders whose confidence and goodwill they require. Even
more disturbing is the brazen disrespect shown to our National Chairman Prof Nentawe Yilwada.
Such conduct is alien to the values and culture of the APC and is unacceptable to us as elders of the party.

Let it be clearly understood:

The APC is a Party open to all who genuinely wish to contribute to its unity, progress, and electoral strength. However, we will not accept individuals who do not share in the philosophy of the Party and whose actions and intentions threaten to bring crisis, confusion, or division in the Party or whose main aim of wishing to join the Party is to beneft from the sacrifice of those who toiled day and night to build the Party to what itis today.
We appeal to well meaning citizens, Party faithfuls, and various groups who have expressed concern over these developments to remain calm and resolute.

The APC is a party governed by rules, discipline, structure, and conviction. Anyone willing to join knows the proper procedures and must demonstrate respect for our leadership and institutions. We are, above all, progressives, and we guard our values jealously.

The Elders Advisory Council which is the conscience of the Party in the State wishes to reaffirm its unwavering confidence in the leadership of the Party in Plateau State under
the distinguished stewardship of Senator Simon Bako Lalong. We also commend the exceptional achievements of our illustrious son and National Chairman of the APC,Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, whose visionary leadership has brought renewed vitality to the Party at the national level.

Furthermore, we reiterate our steadfast support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as he continues to navigate our Nation through these challenging times with courage and clarity of purpose.

Elder Danladi Wuyep
Chairman, Plateau State APC Elders
