LANGTANG NORTH COUNCIL CAUTIONS DETRACTORS AND SETS RECORDS STRAIGHT.
Our attention has been drawn to comments circulating on social media regarding the management of Local Government allocations in Plateau State, particularly as it concerns Langtang North Local Government Council.
The Executive Chairman, Hon. Pirfa Jingfa Tyem, wishes to affirm his unwavering commitment to transparency, accountability, and the prudent management of public resources. Since assumption of office, all statutory allocations received by the Council have been judiciously utilized for projects and programmes that directly benefit our people — including infrastructure rehabilitation, staff welfare, education, health, and agricultural support.
In line with Governor Barr. Caleb Mutfwang’s policy of open governance and fiscal responsibility, the Council has consistently ensured that all expenditures follow due process and are properly documented.
While we recognize and respect the right of citizens to seek clarification on issues of public interest, such engagements must be guided by truth, decorum, and responsibility. The Council remains open to any lawful verification, audit, or oversight process by relevant authorities, including anti-corruption agencies, as transparency remains the cornerstone of this administration.
However, we have noted with concern the post made by Mr. Timlok Fyenda, alleging financial impropriety and threatening to publish unverified information intended to malign the person of the Executive Chairman and the Council’s reputation.
The Council hereby gives Mr. Fyenda one week to substantiate his claims with verifiable evidence, failing which the matter shall be referred to the appropriate legal authorities for action. We consider such false and unsubstantiated allegations as deliberate attempts to undermine public confidence and incite distrust against a lawfully elected administration committed to service delivery.
We therefore encourage constructive dialogue and fact-based engagement, rather than reckless statements capable of misinforming the public and distracting from our shared goal of peace and progress in Langtang North.
This statement was made available to the media and signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Council Chairman Mr Kum Precious.
