The Executive Chairman of Langtang North Local Government Area of Plateau State, Hon. Pirfa Jingfa Tyem, has applauded Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, for prioritizing healthcare delivery across the state.

Speaking with select media at the sidelines of  the 11th Plateau State Council on Health in Jos,  the Plateau State Capital , The Chairman said Mutfwang’s deliberate investment in the health sector is already yielding results and will further transform the system in the coming years.

He said the Governor’s vision aligns with the World Health Organization’s (WHO) standard that citizens should have access to primary health care facilities within three to five kilometres. He noted that the administration’s plan to establish standard healthcare centres in every electoral ward is a commendable step towards achieving that goal.

On local interventions, the Langtang North chairman disclosed that his council has engaged over 60 ad-hoc staff to boost manpower in health facilities, employed more than 50 security guards to protect centres, and increased stipends for healthcare workers by over 80 percent.

He further revealed that Langtang North emerged first in the state during the recently concluded Seasonal Malaria Chemoprevention (SMC) campaign.

Speaking on the challenge of snakebite cases, Tyem explained that although incidents have reduced, the high cost of anti-snake venom remains a major concern since NGOs that once provided subsidized treatment have withdrawn.

Also at the conference, the Leader of the House of Langtang North Legislative Council and Chairman of the Conference of Councillors in Plateau State, Hon. Nanloh Miri-Dashe, led other councillors from the local government to the event. He disclosed that they are impressed with the progress already made in Langtang North and will use the opportunity of the health conference to learn more strategies that can be implemented back home to further strengthen healthcare delivery in the council.

He commended the chairman’s efforts, adding that the councillors remain committed to supporting policies and initiatives that will make healthcare centres in Plateau State more effective.

Hon.Tyem assured that his administration will continue to give deliberate attention to the health sector in Langtang North, stressing that “a healthier population will drive sustainable development.”
"While a healthy population remains a bedrock of socio- economic development he  urged  every stakeholder to make the Plateau health agenda an achievable goal to deliver quality interventions to all disadvantaged citizens of the locality and State in general.
