PLATEAU IS AN INVESTORS AND ENTREPRENEURIAL HUB, STAKEHOLDERS AFFIRM AT MAIDEN SUMMIT

It was a gathering of like minds at the inaugural edition of the Plateau Enterpreneurship and Investment Summit
(PLEIS) 2025 which held at the Crispan Hotel and Suites Jos, Nigeria on Thursday July 3 2025.

Speaking at the event Amb. Cletus Akhimien, Executive Director of COA Media and convener of the event, said the summit with the theme"Plateau Renaissance: Leveraging Innovation,Enterpreneurship and Strategic Investment" aims to harness the untapped entrepreneurial potential in the state. “It’s not just about having great ideas,” he stated, “but creating a platform where those ideas can attract financial support and scale into viable businesses.”
Aimed at  entrepreneurs and MSMEs, Akhimien emphasized the need to connect local innovators with financial institutions and information, noting discussions with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) revealed that many are unaware of the funding opportunities available.

On the same note Chairman  of the summit, Hon. Ibrahim Pam, CEO of AMAC Broadcasting Services, described the event as a catalyst for reawakening Plateau’s entrepreneurial spirit. He highlighted the role of media in promoting entrepreneurship and advised young people to be self-driven, focused, and proactive in creating their own paths to successful business ownerships and mentorships.
Hajiya Safiya Isa Ahmed, SSA to the Plateau State Governor on Youth Mobilization, urged youths to invest in themselves rather than wait for handouts. She praised Governor Mutfwang’s commitment to youth empowerment through initiatives like PLASMIDA, Plateau Job Center, and youth access to farmland at BARC Farms.

The Acting branch Controller of the CBN in Jos  Alhaji Nurudeen Abuhuraira, applauded the summit’s theme, “Plateau Renaissance: Leveraging Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Strategic Investment,” calling it timely and visionary. He assured of the CBN’s support for MSME and highlighted many key areas the Apex bank was ready to assist start ups achieve financial independence through heavily subsidized loan facilities.

On the long run the summit  aimed to stimulate enterprise growth, attract strategic investments, and deepen entrepreneurial development across the state.

The summit focused on strengthening Plateau's business environment, especially for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), under-tapped value chains, and other emerging socio economic sectors
The summit is expected to become an annual event in convening champions of innovation, entrepreneurship, and investment geared toward charting new economic indices for the state to drive self suffiency and boost internally generated revenue.
