PLATEAU HOLDS YOUTH PARLEY TO CELEBRATE 2 YEARS OF PURPOSEFUL AND FOCUSED LEADERSHIP BY GOVERNOR CALEB MANASSEH MUTTWANG.

The Plateau State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development in a continued celebration of the Governor's 2nd year in office on Thursday 5 June 2025 held an innovative Youth Parley in commemoration of two years in office of Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s youth-friendly administration at the Victoria Gowon Hall, little Rayfield government house,Jos,Nigeria.
The well attended event with the theme “Celebrating Two Years of Youth-Inclusive Leadership" witnessed a convergence of youths from across the state in an interactive session, updates, and strategic engagement with government officials.
Governor Muttwang, represented by the Secretary to the Government of the State State, Arch. Samuel Nanchang Jatau, challenged the youths not to allow tribalism or religion to divide them, rather, they should be united, creative and become productive, taking advantage of various opportunities provided by Government for then to become self employed and self reliant.
The Commissioner of Youths and Sports Development Hon.Musa Ibrahim Ashoms highlighted key milestones of Governor Mutfwang’s administration which is focused on youth empowerment, innovation, and capacity building.
Ashoms noted the training of 10,000 youths in modern agriculture through partnership with the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), launch of the BARC Farm Youth Project to create agri-business opportunities, establishment of a Technology and Outsourcing Hub in Jos through federal partnerships, to connect Plateau youth to global digital markets, ongoing development of the Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zone (SAPZ) to drive food processing and export, leadership development programs for 250 youths at Shere Hills Citizenship and Leadership Training Centre, aggressive youth inclusion in governance, with 65% of current government appointments held by young people, as part of the 2nd year achievements of Governor Mutfwang.
Rt. Hon. Gabriel Dewan, Speaker of Plateau State House of Assembly, stated that Governor Caleb Mutfwang has placed a high value on youths in his administration, calling it a testament to trust in their abilities.
He urged young people to prioritize education and professionalism, saying, “The future belongs to those who prepare, let our youths be encouraged to pursue meaningful skills, not be divided along ethnic or political lines.” the Speaker stated.
Other dignitaries at the event include members of the State Executive Council, the Plateau State Youth Council, heads of government agencies, and stakeholders such as the commissioner for Environment, Agriculture ministry, General Manager of Plateau Express Service, DG PICTDA and the DG of PEPSA amongst others who shared some key achievements centered on youths participation.
The parley concluded with an interactive session where the participants raised issues, shared ideas, and received feedback from government representatives such as Peter Gwom, Commissioner for Environment, Climate Change andvMineral Development, Hon Samsom Bugama, Commissioner of Agriculture, Hon Samuel Gwott, GMD Plateau Riders, who praised Mutfwang's youth driven achievements in their ministries and agencies.
The Commissioner of the ministry Hon Ashoms pledged to organize another parley within the shortest possible time so that the youths who are critical stakeholders in "The time is Now" administration of H.E Barrister Caleb Mannaseh Muttwang will be carried along in the decision making and implentation processes of the Plateau State Government stressing that this would be an ongoing exercise for sensitization and awareness for youths.
