PLATEAU STATE MINISTERIAL PRESS BRIEFING: HIGHLIGHTS OF DAY TWO ON WEDNESDAY 21 MAY 2025 By Onjefu Odaudu, Jos
Ministry of Youth and Sports Development
Here the Commissioner Hon Musa Ibrahim Ashoms highlighted the following;
*Mobilization of 100O Youths for the Plateau Youth Agricultural Empowerment Program PLA-YEAP at BARC Farms
*Work is ongoing at the NYSC permanent orientation camp in Jakatai,Mangu it is expected to be one of the best camps in Nigeria.
*His Excellency has approved funds for entrepreneurship skills acquisition for 250 Youths at the National Youth Development Center,Shere Hills,Jos
*The ministry was able to purchase a power generating set CE65KWH 700W generator to address the issue of power outage.
*Supply of Sporting kits and equipment for the Sporting Festival (Gateway Ogun National Sports Festival 2025) which is ongoing
These are among several other massive interventions in the ministry with the support of H.E the Executive governor of Plateau State Barrister Caleb Mannaseh Muttwang.
The ministry of Environment,Climate Change and Mineral development headed by the Commissioner Hon. Peter Kanang Gwom listed the following as the giant strides under his watch;
*Over 2000 households now have access to water harvesting systems.
*In collaboration with the World Bank backed ACReSAL and the European International Bank is strengthening climate resilience.
A 17.1 kilometer fence is also under construction around Jos Wildlife Park to boost conservation and and curb illegal mining.
*He also highlighted the ongoing renovation and upgrade of ministry offices to enhance efficiency.
The Commissioner of Works Hon.Ubandoma Laven disclosed that;
*49 road projects inherited from past governments are currently ongoing.
*Key urban roads like Bukuru Road and Yelwa Club junction are being improved to ease traffic and enhance urban mobility.
Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development Arc.Sylvanus Dongtoe said his ministry was able to revive abandoned projects including a 6.7 kilometer road under construction.
Dongtoe also noted the introduction of a Smart USD initiative to drive smart urban development he said new towns are being mapped for investors, metro bus shelters are underway and government buildings are recieving fire safety upgrades with federal support.
Other ministries who presented include those of Culture and Tourism.
